Dr. Robert T. Downs, Mission Coordinator
As mission
Coordinator for the Presbytery Bob comes to us following a thirty-five year
pastorate at the Emsworth U. P. Church in Pittsburgh Presbytery. Bob is a
native of the Pacific Northwest and received his undergraduate education at
the University of Washington in Seattle. He did his seminary training at
Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey, where he also earned his
doctorate in 1982. He and his wife Joan have two children and seven
grandchildren.
Bob brings to
his ministry as Mission Coordinator a knowledge of Presbyterian mission work
around the world. He and Joan have visited Presbyterian missions in South
Asia, Singapore, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and South American. Bob
served eight years on the Board of the Medical Benevolence Foundation of the
Presbyterian Church. He has also been involved in local mission work through
Pittsburgh Presbytery's mission agencies and through the mission of the
Emsworth Church to its own community.
Bob brings to his calling as Mission Coordinator a desire to help the congregations of the Presbytery fulfill their responsibilities to carry out the mission the Lord has committed to them in ways which will enable them to maximize their efforts and also reap the blessings which come from faithful service to the Kingdom of God.
