Captivating:  Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman's Soul

by John and Stasi Eldredge.  Every little girl has dreams of being swept up into a great adventure, of being the beautiful princess.

Sadly, when women grow up, they are often swept up into a life filled merely with duty and demands. Many Christian women are

tired, struggling under the weight of the pressure to be a good servant, a nurturing caregiver, or a capable home manager.  This

book shows readers the glorious design of women before the fall, describes how the feminine heart can be restored, and casts a

vision for the power, freedom, and beauty of a woman released to be all she was meant to be.

Finding Our Way Again

by Brian McLaren.  In a sense, every day of our lives is labor. It is questionable if you can ever be exactly the same person waking

up on two consecutive days. How are spiritual sojourners to cope with the constant change? Many are beginning to explore the

ancient Christian spiritual practices that have been in use for centuries, everything from fixed-hour prayer to fasting to sincere

observance of the Sabbath. What is causing this hunger for deeper spirituality?  Brian McLaren guides us on this quest for an

explanation of these spiritual practices, many of which go all the way back to Abraham and the establishment of Israel. In the midst

of contemporary Christianity, we discover the beauty of these ancient disciplines and the transformation through Christ that each

            can provide.

Ask, Thank, Tell: Improving Stewardship Ministry in Your Congregation

by Charles Lane.  The goal of this book, says author Charles "Chick" Lane, is to perform a dramatic rescue of stewardship, feeing it from any connection whatsoever to "paying the bills."  Stewardship is an intensely spiritual matter that lies close to a disciple's relationship with Jesus.  The book is designed especially for use in congregational planning and study.  Congregational stewardship leaders will come back to three foundational verbs - as, thank, tell - over and over as they help individuals experience the joy of giving generously.  The author makes the convincing case that there is little in life today that can help a disciple grow in relationship with Jesus more than a solid intentional biblical stewardship.

Faithful Disagreement:  Wrestling with Scripture in the Midst of Church Conflict

by Frances Taylor Gench.  Conflict is all too common in the church today.  But as Frances Taylor Gench reminds us in this book, conflict over scriptural interpretation has been with the church since its earliest days.  Gench reflects on those early experiences of conflict, presenting substantive studies of biblical texts showing that discord (e.g. , Romans 14-15; Matthew 14; Jeremiah. 28; 1 Corinthians 12-14; John 13-17) and drawing lesson from each about how it informs current conflicts in the church.  This innovative book can be used by individuals and in groups.  Numerous helpful study questions conclude each chapter.
